Wynyard Planetarium & Observatory is based on the beautiful Wynyard Woodland Park, near Thorpe Thewles, Stockton-on-Tees. Closely allied to the regions maritime heritage is astronomy, with one of the most epic voyages of local explorer James Cook, captain of HM Bark Endeavour, being to observe a Transit of Venus across the Sun in 1769. This venue hosts regular star shows and observing nights for the general public where you can discover the wonders of the universe for yourself. |
